Breakout Proposals

On behalf of the 2011 ACE/NETC Proposal Committee, I'd like to extend a thank you to everyone who submitted a breakout session proposal.

We received 147 proposals from 116 individuals representing 40 different universities and organizations. After spending the past two days reading proposals, I can confidently say that we're going to have an engaging and valuable experience in Denver this summer.

We received multiple proposals in every traditional SIG and IT area, from writing to photography to systems and solutions. Even more exciting, the five most frequently chosen session descriptors are some of the shared-focus topics that make ACE/NETC's Communications and IT partnership so valuable. They include:
  1. Working Differently (88 proposals)
  2. Collaboration (62)
  3. Extension and Outreach (62)
  4. New and Interesting (44)
  5. Social Media (43)
The proposals also reflect the spirit of community that is so key to the way to we our jobs. Many were submitted by teams of presenters from more than one university. Several proposed round table sessions and panel discussions underscore the value we place on this opportunity to meet face to face to learn from and plan with each other.

This week the proposals are being reviewed by the ACE SIG Leaders and NETC Steering Committee. The Proposal and Scheduling sub-committees will compile their recommendations and complete the selection process during the first week of February. The Program Committee aims to have a more detailed schedule posted in mid-February. Until then, I'll just say, trust me. ACE/NETC ver. 2.011 is going to be a great conference.
